Highlights of the Traditional Line

Helko 1844

Helko Werk – Traditional Line

The Traditional Line is our premium series of classic axes with authentic character. The axe heads are drop-forged and then individually hand-finished, ground, and refined by our experienced blacksmiths. This elaborate manufacturing process gives each axe its own unique look – no two are alike. The axes in this line convey the robust, honest feel of a traditional hand tool – combined with the precision and reliability of modern German quality manufacturing. The handles are smoothly ground and treated with boiled linseed oil. A vegetable-tanned leather sheath is included.

HELKO Factory - Tradition meets Innovation

Since 1844, HELKO Werk has stood for first-class German blacksmithing. As one of the most traditional axe manufacturers, the company combines centuries-old craftsmanship with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. HELKO axes are made in Germany and unite traditional forging techniques with modern manufacturing technology. The axe heads are made of high-quality steel and offer the perfect balance between sharpness, durability, and resilience. Ergonomically optimized handles made of sustainably sourced American hickory wood and thoughtful details such as high-quality leather sheaths underscore the focus on user-friendliness and functionality.
